Product Review - The Natural Moisture Unrefined Shea Butter

Meet a local brand and hair care supplier Natural Moisture, lovingly headed up by Ruth, a blogger and hair educator at large. They (she) have been around for a while providing a number of hair care products including shea butter and satin pillow cases. (I see that they also now stock henna powder, flexi rods and more, talk about a one stop shop). Natural Moisture describe this butter as follows: Our unrefined Shea butter is just that. Awesome. It is unprocessed with all the healing properties of Shea butter still present in their purest form. If you are fond of preparing your own mixtures for your hair or skin, this is the best product for you. Because it comes raw, you can do what you want with it. Packed with Vitamin A, E and F, it contains fatty acids which combat dryness, soothe sores, moisturize dry skin/scalp, soften wrinkles and promote cell renewal, fade scars and stretch marks, cool burns, alleviate dermatitis, psoriasis, eczema and dandruff. Shea butter is particularly good because it melts easily at body temperature and is easily absorbed by the skin/scalp so it does not clog pores or leave a greasy residue on the surface. Straight forward and to the point.

A long while ago, I paid Ruth a visit and stocked up on unrefined shea butter. I use shea butter for my home made mixes. I like the benefits and versatility of shea butter and enjoy getting it all fluffy with my electric mixer/beater. Natural Moisture's Unrefined Shea Butter whips up quite easily mixed with some coconut oil and other oils and I add essential oils to tone down its natural nutty scent. (I don't really like its natural scent).

With this particular mix I added some gel in addition to coconut oil, other oils and drops of lavender essential oil.
