So you are looking for - Locally Produced Hair Care Products in South Africa

This is an update to my initial list that was posted in May 2015 (rather than keep that post I have just cleaned it up and updated it). A year and some months later, I am filled with great joy as I see how the list has grown and how some brands have evolved, I said it then and I will keep saying it...EXCITING TIMES AHEAD for us in SA. We still may not have local store shelves filled to the brim with all the natural hair goodness our hair needs BUT, we do have options and we do have a GROWING list of brands ever so willing and ever so superb to have formulated (and are formulating) products just for us - waves, curls, kinks and coils.

This list is not extensive and does not include suppliers that can be found in health stores both physical and/or online. It also does not include suppliers of products that can be bought in stores like Clicks or beauty salons or spas, for example Africology etc. (maybe one day it will, let me work on that).  If you are aware of any similar brands/products to those listed below, please by all means let me know and I will further update the list.
These hair care brands include some world changers who are based right here on our South African shores and are some of the most daring, brave, creative, faith-filled, empowering, inspiring super women (and men) we may know and they do it for the love of our hair. Some have been trying to get us to believe in our hair for a while now whilst others have just entered the market. Some are still nurturing and improving their products whilst others have found their own unique blends. For us by us you may ask...indeed, and even if they aren't at least they bringing what they have learnt and made and are sharing it with us. These brands can be found on various social media platforms as well such as facebook, instagram and twitter so go ahead and follow them if you will. (just search for the brand name on these platforms)

In the works and I will move to the above list once up and running:

Zitha Kurlzorganic range for toddlers. You can follow progress here https://www.facebook.com/zithakurlzhaircare/

To contact any of these hair care suppliers/brands, just check under the contact us tab of their website or see their contact details on either their facebook or instagram page if the website is under construction. Send them an email, phone them, ask questions and by all means try out what they have to offer (if you have any trouble contacting them then just send me an email and I will try to help). Some brands have been formulated in a lab/lab tested or are factory made, others have been DIY formulated, others are a mix of the two. At the end of the day, its up to you what you and your hair prefer. Product offerings vary and the product prices vary so by all means shop around. Product scent/smell varies so does packaging and labels etc etc. Okay I babbling on to also stress the point that the market is large enough for all of these and more suppliers. Our hair is our hair and very individual and independent at that, what works for you may not work for me but it is all about trying and about finding what your hair loves.(either way YOUR HAIR WILL THANK YOU).

You will note that I tried to list what the suppliers/brands stock but there will be more details on their individual sites. I have done a previous post on shopping online HERE, it really is quite easy and if you are still not keen then contact the brand directly as some do accept cash on delivery and some are present at various markets and popups for you to touch and feel and shop in person. (tip - for the markets and popups - download snap scan - shopping has never been made more easier and a number of brands have this payment option should you not have any cash on you).

Product alone will never be enough for our hair, it is quite demanding and so it should be. Product PLUS TECHNIQUE are key. Find what works for you and if it does not work the first time, try another way, another method, another style and as always, listen to your hair.
